About ItchBeater
Medical Review Policy
How we review every health-related guide for accuracy and keep them current.
ItchBeater publishes practical guides about bites, rashes, stings, and skin irritation common on the Delmarva Peninsula. Because this content touches on health, we hold it to a clear review standard.
How content is reviewed
Every health-related guide is written from authoritative public-health sources and reviewed by an ItchBeater editor before publication. The editor checks each claim against current guidance from the CDC, EPA, FDA, NIH, the American Academy of Dermatology, and regional public-health and university extension programs covering Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia.
When a guide describes first aid, repellent use, or when to seek medical care, we follow the most recent published guidance from the relevant authority and link to it in the sources list.
Update cadence
Seasonal guides (mosquito, tick, sea nettle, ragweed, heat rash, winter dry skin) are reviewed at least once per year before the relevant season and updated whenever guidance changes. The "Updated" date near the top of each guide reflects the most recent review.
Scope and limits
ItchBeater is educational and is not a substitute for individualized medical care. We do not diagnose, prescribe, or replace the judgment of a clinician who can examine you. Severe, worsening, or unusual symptoms always warrant a call to a clinician or, in an emergency, 911.
See our full Medical Disclaimer and Editorial Policy for related details.
Reporting an inaccuracy
If something in a guide looks wrong, out of date, or doesn't match current public-health guidance, please email info@itchbeater.com with the URL and the concern. We review reports promptly and post visible corrections when warranted.
