How we research, write, fact-check, and update every guide on ItchBeater.
ItchBeater is an independent publication focused on bites, rashes, and stings on the Delmarva Peninsula. Every guide is written by our editorial team with the goal of giving readers calm, locally accurate, practical information they can act on.
Our sources
Each guide is built from a combination of authoritative public-health sources (the CDC, EPA, FDA, NIH), regional public-health agencies (Maryland Department of Health, Delaware Division of Public Health, Virginia Department of Health), peer-reviewed dermatology and entomology literature, and university extension programs that work directly on the Eastern Shore (University of Maryland Extension, University of Delaware Cooperative Extension).
Sources reviewed for each article are listed at the bottom of the article. We link to the underlying source whenever it is publicly available.
Accuracy and review
Every guide is reviewed by an editor before publication for clarity, accuracy, and tone. Health and product guidance is checked against current authoritative sources, and we update articles when new information is available. The publication date and last reviewed date appear near the top of each article.

Corrections
We correct factual errors quickly and visibly. If you spot one, email info@itchbeater.com with the article URL and the issue. Substantive corrections are noted at the bottom of the affected article.
